Douglas P. Boyd

CEO at Imatrex

Mr. Boyd is an internationally recognized physicist who has pioneered in the fields of Medical Imaging and Airport Security Imaging. While at Stanford University, he conceived the first fan-beam, rotary Computed Tomography scanners using Xenon detector arrays, which became the standard in the industry for 20 years. Dr. Boyd developed the first scanning electron beam CT scanner (EBCT) and later founded Imatron, inc. which commercialized EBCT and was the leader in cardiac CT imaging for 20 years until sold to General Electric in 2001.

Dr. Boyd founded Invision, inc., the only certified Explosives Detection System (EDSS) in airports for many years, and due to his work was awarded the Conway Safe Skies Award in 1993. In 2008, he founded TeleSecurity Sciences, inc. to help introduce the next level of explosives detection technology. Dr. Boyd has also served on the boards of several small innovative high-tech companies, published more than 100 technical papers, and has been awarded 26 U.S. patents.
