Ben Catterall

Ben Catterall has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Ben began their career at the John Lewis Partnership as a Customer Service Assistant from November 2011 to February 2012. Ben then worked as an Admissions Assistant at Merlin Entertainments plc from July 2013 to September 2013, where they received the employee of the month award.

In 2014, Ben interned at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Dr Robert Mullins, co-founder of the Raspberry Pi foundation. During this time, they built the open-source Pyland game for the Raspberry Pi using C++, OpenGL, and Python.

In 2015, they interned at Citrix, where they assessed the feasibility of security enhancements for the open-source Xen hypervisor. Ben wrote patches using C and x86 assembly for Intel and AMD processors.

In 2016, Ben worked as an intern at Morgan Stanley and IMC - financial markets. At IMC, they took on the role of an intern for a month, while at Morgan Stanley, they interned for three months.

In 2017, Ben joined IMC Trading as a Junior Software Engineer, and then progressed to become a Software Engineer, Team Lead of both the Europe and Brazil Execution teams. Ben held this position until 2023. Within IMC Trading, they also served as a Team Lead of the Brazil Execution team from November 2021 to March 2023.

Throughout their work experience, Ben has demonstrated their skills in software engineering, team leadership, and internships in various industries.

Ben Catterall obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 2013 to 2016. Ben then pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Computer Science at the same university from 2016 to 2017. Prior to their university education, Ben attended Ranelagh School from 2006 to 2013, where they completed their High School education.
