Laura Cooney, PhD has extensive work experience in various scientific roles. Laura is currently employed as the Director of Biomarker Discovery Research for Autoimmunity at the Immune Tolerance Network since May 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the University of Michigan from December 2020 to September 2022 as the Lead Biologist in the Autoimmune Disease Therapeutic Area for the Immune Tolerance Network. From 2017 to 2020, they served as the Chief Scientist for Marine Biodiversity & Conservation at Sea Education Association | SEA Semester, and before that, they were an Assistant Scientist from 2014 to 2017. Laura also worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Center for Infectious Disease Research from 2010 to 2013 and at the University of Michigan from 2010 to 2010. Laura Cooney completed their Ph.D. in Immunology at the University of Michigan from 2004 to 2010, focusing on the cytokine-mediated regulation of Th17 cell development and its role in a mouse model of arthritis. Laura also worked as a Technical Scientific Editor at AJE - American Journal Experts from 2006 to 2009 and as a Research Technician and Undergraduate Student in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami from 2000 to 2004.
Laura Cooney, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami, where they studied from 2000 to 2003. Laura later pursued their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Immunology at the University of Michigan, completing their studies from 2004 to 2010.
