Nicholas van Buuren

Nicholas van Buuren is an accomplished professional in the field of virology and biomarker development, currently serving as Associate Director at Immunome, Inc. since February 2025, where expertise is applied in leading biomarker strategy development for clinical and pre-clinical antibody drug conjugates. Prior experience includes roles at Gilead Sciences from March 2021 to April 2025 as Principal Scientist and Senior Research Scientist I, overseeing biomarker initiatives in Immuno-Oncology and leading studies on patient response predictions as well as liver virology for HBV cures. Nicholas also contributed to significant research at Stanford University from April 2012 to October 2018 as a Basic Life Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on Hepatitis C virus drug targets and immune response mechanisms. Earlier studies at the University of Alberta culminated in a PhD in Virology, where Nicholas investigated proteins affecting host immune responses.
