Avi Kaura

Avi Kaura is a dedicated medical student at Imperial College London, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. As the LGBTQ+ Officer for Imperial College Union since August 2023, Avi advocates for the equitable treatment of the LGBTQ+ community and promotes queer visibility. In addition, Avi serves as a researcher for the Criminalising Distress Project at Medact and contributes as a Student Advisor for the Lived Experience Project at Imperial College, incorporating social exclusion narratives into medical curriculum. Avi has also engaged in various volunteer roles including CPA tutoring and mock examination facilitation for second-year medical students. Previous experiences include roles at The Medic Portal as a writer and examiner, and as a NICE Student Champion, where training on the NICE Evidence Search was provided to peers. Early career experiences include social care support work and customer service roles, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement and healthcare advocacy.
