Ashley Bickel

International Data Specialist and Support Economist at IMPLAN

Ashley Bickel has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being an International Data Specialist and Support Economist at IMPLAN since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked at The University of Arizona for nearly ten years as an Economic Impact Analyst in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics - Cooperative Extension. In this role, they conducted applied research and economic analysis to address economic development issues in Arizona. Ashley also developed research strategies, managed project implementation, and analyzed economic data.

Before their time at The University of Arizona, Bickel served as a Program Associate for the Colorado River Delta Legacy Program at the Sonoran Institute. During their tenure, they drafted grant funding proposals, assisted in program development and implementation, and ensured compliance with donor requirements.

Ashley began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Arizona Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. In this role, they conducted research related to securing water for the environment and applied the ecosystem service framework to the Lower Colorado River and Delta. Ashley also synthesized research from multiple disciplines and presented their work at conferences and meetings.

Ashley Bickel completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Resource Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno from 2005 to 2009. In 2008, they also studied Economics at Linnaeus University for a brief period. Later, from 2010 to 2012, Ashley pursued a Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Arizona. During their time at the University of Arizona, they also attended Il Centro di Portici in 2011 to focus on Microeconometrics.
