Mario Alfano worked for seven different companies from 1984 to 2011. Mario started their career at Campbell Soup as an Associate Marketing Manager in 1984. In 1987, they moved to Colgate-Palmolive as a Product Manager. In 1988, they joined Polaroid as a Divisional VP. In 2000, they became VP Corporate Marketing at Xircom. In 2003, they were promoted to VP Marketing, Digital at Canwest Media Inc. In 2004, they moved to CanWest MediaWorks as SVP, Marketing and Strategy, Interactive. Finally, in 2007, they became SVP Audience and Marketing at ImpreMedia Digital, where they were the chief website architect for the #1 Hispanic news and information company in the US, online and in print.

Mario Alfano began their educational journey in 1972 when they graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School with a Diploma in 1976. Mario then attended Cornell University from 1979 to 1980, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. After that, they attended Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) from 1980 to 1982, where they earned a Master of Arts degree. Finally, from 1982 to 1984, Mario Alfano attended the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and earned an MBA.
