Senior Firmware Engineer at In-Situ Environmental

David Arko has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. David began their career as an Assistant Electrician at Metcalf Electric & Plumbing, where they assisted in various tasks related to new home construction and remodels. David also gained experience in installing and repairing high voltage power lines. After that, they worked at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology as a System Programmer, where they managed a VAX 11/750 system running BSD 4.3 Unix and made modifications to the Unix kernel and commands.

In 1989, David joined HP as a Unix Qualification Engineer and later became a Software Engineer. David served as the lead software developer for the installation and software management tool-set used for the HP-UX operating system, and also worked as an architect for the "Ignite-UX" product. David developed these products using C/C++, shell scripts, yacc/lex. David continued their journey at HP, transitioning into the role of Product Owner/Software Developer/Architect, where they played a key role in developing Linux system management tools using JavaScript, HTML5, and REST APIs. David later joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise as a Java Software Engineer, focusing on enhancing the area of local storage management of Proliant servers. David utilized various technologies such as Java, git, Jenkins, REST API, Python, and Docker containers.

Currently, David is working as a Senior Firmware Engineer at In-Situ Environmental, where they apply their expertise in developing firmware for environmental monitoring solutions.

David Arko obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where they studied from 1985 to 1989.
