INBO (Research Institute for Nature and Forest)
Myriam Dumortier is a seasoned academic and researcher with extensive experience in biodiversity and environmental policy. Currently, Myriam serves as a Senior Researcher at INBO, focusing on agriculture and biodiversity since June 2020. Concurrently, Myriam has been a Professor at Ghent University since 2007, specializing in forest and nature policy. Past experience includes a decade as a Policy Officer for the European Commission, where Myriam developed EU policy on invasive alien species aligned with the EU Biodiversity Strategy. Myriam's earlier roles include coordinating nature reporting at INBO, conducting research on forest biodiversity at Ghent University, and working internationally on community forestry and agricultural extension projects in Sri Lanka and Nepal. Myriam holds a PhD in Grassland Ecology and a Master's degree in Forestry and Nature Management from Ghent University.
