Sergio Pino has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Sergio started their career as a Teacher Assistant at Universidad Industrial de Santander in 2008. Later, they worked as a Researcher and Software Developer at the same university, where they developed a distributed system for a smart power grid using Python, Java, and SQL. Sergio also designed a peer-to-peer network protocol for file sharing and worked on a file sharing service as an undergraduate project researcher.
In 2010, Sergio joined the University of Delaware as a Visiting scholar and developed a software-defined radio testbed system. Sergio then became a Research Assistant and worked on a DARPA-funded project, where they developed a software tool for building a collection of related knowledge through structured narratives. Sergio also proposed a programming language as a Graduate Student, with a focus on decoupling parallel applications.
During their time at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2015, Sergio worked as a Graduate Student Intern and developed a task-based parallel version of a Quantum Molecular Dynamics code. Sergio used C/C++, cmake, and CnC for this project.
Following their internship, Sergio worked at ET International, Inc as a Software Engineer Intern and contributed to the HAMR big data project. Sergio developed new features and benchmarks, determining the impact of the garbage collector implementation on the project's execution time.
In 2018, Sergio joined Cloudreach as a Software Engineer, where they worked in the cloud analytics engineering team at Cloudamize. Sergio contributed to the development of a cloud computing analytics platform, allowing customers to calculate and compare TCO across different cloud platforms. Sergio later transitioned to the role of Senior Software Engineer at Cloudreach.
Throughout their career, Sergio has gained experience in areas such as software engineering, backend/frontend development, parallel computing, and research. Sergio has used a variety of programming languages and tools, including Java, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and Python.
Sergio Pino has a strong educational background in computer science and engineering. Sergio completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering at the Universidad Industrial de Santander in 2009. Sergio then pursued their Master of Science in Systems Engineering and Computer Science at the same university from 2009 to 2013. During this time, they also obtained certifications as a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 in November 2009 and as a Sun Certified Specialist for NetBeans IDE in October 2008.
Sergio further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a second Master of Science degree. Sergio completed their Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware from 2011 to 2013. Following this, they further deepened their expertise in computer and information sciences by completing another Master of Science degree at the University of Delaware, without specifying the start year and completing in 2017.
