James Tully has a diverse work experience primarily in the military and defense sectors. Starting in 2006, they served in the US Army as a Company Commander, leading and training a team of officers and enlisted soldiers. James then became the Battalion Operations Officer, ensuring operational readiness and training for over 570 US and 60 Korean soldiers. James also served as a Border Transition Team Chief, training and advising Iraqi Department of Border Enforcement Battalions in combat operations. From 2010 to 2011, James served as the Battalion Executive Officer, managing a battalion of over 640 soldiers and providing general support aviation in the Korean Theater of Operations. Following their time in the US Army, they joined the United Nations in 2013 as the Brigade Operations Officer, responsible for coordinating military operations in Liberia. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Incodema3D, LLC as the Aerospace and Defense Program Manager.

James Tully holds an MS degree in National Security and Strategic Studies, which they obtained from the United States Naval War College in the academic years of 2011 to 2012. Prior to that, they pursued a BS degree in History at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in "Leading in Crisis" from LinkedIn in July 2020.
