Derek Tharp

Derek Tharp, Ph.D., CFP®, CLU®, RICP®, currently serves as the Head of Innovation and Senior Advisor at Income Lab, while also holding the position of Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Southern Maine. In addition to these roles, Derek is the Lead Researcher at Kitces.com and a Financial Planner at Conscious Capital, a firm specializing in socially conscious investing and comprehensive financial planning. Previous experience includes positions as a Financial Advisor at Robert W. Baird & Co. and as a Financial Planner at Mote Wealth Management, LLC, among others. Derek holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University and has completed advanced education in financial planning at Iowa State University.
