Karen Garcia

Karen Garcia has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning from 2014 to 2022.

Starting in 2014, Karen worked as a Web Development Intern at Join-TI, where they resolved bugs and assisted in the development of new and existing software using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

In 2015, they interned as an iOS Developer at the Intermídia Comunicação Interativa Ltda, where they developed new features, resolved bugs, and identified and fixed server and database errors using Objective-C, Swift, Xcode, Toad For Oracle, and SQLite. Karen also interned at the Apple Developer Academy | PUCRS, where they learned iOS development with a focus on Objective-C and Swift, and conducted research on new technologies such as Watch OS, developing and publishing apps on the App Store.

In 2016, Karen worked as a Scientific Initiation Scholarship at IFRS, conducting research in the field of education, specifically focusing on the impact of digital and board games on the learning process.

From 2017 to 2018, Karen acted as a Software Development Consultant at ThoughtWorks, maintaining and programming new functionalities on an API while primarily working with the backend using Java 8, MongoDB, Spring MVC, SpringBoot, Jenkins, and Git. Karen also embraced a DevOps culture and followed systematic practices such as TDD and quality assurance.

Later in 2017, Karen became a Mobile Developer at MECOM DO BRASIL, where they programmed new features and resolved bugs using Android Studio with Java for Android and Xcode with Objective-C for iOS.

In 2018, Karen joined Rezdy as a Software Engineer, providing support for ongoing projects and aiding in the development of new projects using Java 8 for past projects and TypeScript for new ones. Karen collaborated closely with stakeholders, including customers and company management, to prioritize tasks and understand project requirements. All projects involved working with AWS and Jenkins for deployment.

Returning to ThoughtWorks in 2019, Karen was promoted to a Senior Software Development Consultant role, continuing their work in software development consulting. This included maintaining and programming new functionalities on various projects, with a focus on Java 8, MongoDB, Spring MVC, SpringBoot, Jenkins, and Git.

Most recently, in 2022, Karen joined InDebted as a Senior Software Engineer, wherein they actively hold the position, contributing their expertise to the software engineering team.

Karen Garcia began their education in 2011 at Escola Técnica Dr. Solon Tavares, where they pursued a degree in Informatic Technician, specializing in Programação de Computadores. Karen completed their studies at this institution in 2014.

In 2014, Karen continued their education at IFRS - Campus Porto Alegre, pursuing a degree in Internet Systems Technologist with a focus on Programação de Computadores. Karen attended this institution until 2021, completing their degree.

During their time at IFRS - Campus Porto Alegre, Karen also attended Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2016. Karen pursued a degree in Computer Programmer Analyst, specializing in Programação de Computadores.

Aside from their formal education, Karen has obtained additional certifications. In 2019, they obtained a certification in "#SheHacks2019" from Girl Geek Sydney. Karen also obtained a certification in "Powering up with React" from Code School, although the specific month and year are not provided.
