Clare Wadd

Director, Finance & Governance at Independent Age

Clare has worked in finance at a senior level in charities and not for profits since 2013 and brings a wide-range experience to the role of Director of Finance and Governance at Independent Age from her previous positions at The Royal Parks, C40 Cities and London Youth. She is passionate about continual improvement and making sure charities are financially sustainable, well run and operate efficiently, so their funds can be directed to the mission.

She qualified as a chartered accountant in an audit firm in 2000 and, prior to moving into the charity sector, ran the finances of small groups of media and technology companies. The majority of her roles in both the commercial and charity sectors have extended beyond the finance function to include, variously; governance; safeguarding; planning; risk; HR, IT; and property. Before training as an accountant, Clare worked in the music industry. She is a long-standing volunteer with The Ramblers and is Treasurer of The Jimmy Dixon Trust.
