Mia Tong

Policy Officer at Independent Diplomat

Mia Tong is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in policy development and research focused on human mobility and refugee issues. Currently serving as a Policy Officer at Independent Diplomat since November 2024, Mia previously contributed as a Research Coordinator for Oxfam International's Human Mobility Initiative and undertook an interim role as Senior Confederation Development Advisor. Additionally, Mia coordinated programs at the Global Refugee-Led Network and worked as a Research and Policy Officer at the Kadın Emeğini Değerlendirme Vakfı, where Mia supported Turkey's Refugee Council and led initiatives on gender and development. As a Freelance Consultant, Mia further honed skills in proposal and report writing. Mia holds a Master's degree in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Arabic from the University of California, Berkeley.
