Patricia Smith has worked within health policy in the Washington, D.C., area for more than three decades, most recently serving as president and chief executive officer of Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), a national leadership organization in Washington, D.C., that brings together high-quality, innovative health plans and provider groups, for nearly a decade prior to her retirement. Smith is a respected expert in delivery system reform, Medicare, and coordinated care issues nationwide. Prior to leading ACHP, Smith served as director of the Medicare Advantage Group at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Smith was previously vice president at America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and senior vice president for policy at ACHP from 2001 to 2004. She also serves on the advisory board of Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States and the public policy advisory board of the March of Dimes.
