Jan Edler has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Jan started their career at Bell Laboratories as a Member of Technical Staff from 1980 to 1983. Jan then worked at New York University as an Assistant Research Scientist from 1983 to 1994. Afterwards, they joined NEC Research Institute as a Scientist from 1994 to 2000. From 2000 to 2002, they served as a Consultant at Franklin Electronic Publishers and as a Chief Architect at Intermemory.net. Jan then worked at Netrics, Inc as a Senior Systems Engineer for a brief period in 2002. Jan returned to Franklin Electronic Publishers as a Manager of Software Platforms from 2002 to 2006. Since 2006, they have been working as a Consulting Engineer at Index Engines.
Jan Edler completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science at the University of Maryland from 1975 to 1980. They then pursued further education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from New York University from 1980 to 1995.
