Tarun K Tripathy

Tarun K Tripathy has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and storage architecture. Tarun K began their career at Auspex Systems in 1996 as a Software Engineer and Storage Architect, where they became the company-wide expert in storage. From 2002 to 2003, they worked at Pillar Data Systems as a Principal Engineer, focusing on the design of multiple-level volume snapshots. Tarun K then joined Nexsil Communications as a Principal Member Tech Staff, where they contributed to the architecture and development of an advanced TOE solution.

In 2003, Tripathy joined Agami Systems as a Senior Engineer, where they played a crucial role in the architecture and development of a next-generation NAS product. During their time at Agami Systems, they gained expertise in various areas, including firmware, Linux internals, and storage and networking protocols.

From 2007 to 2010, Tripathy worked at Quantum as a Principal Engineer in the Office of the CTO, where they collaborated closely with the CTO on the architecture and development of high-performance deduplication software. Tarun K focused on optimizing performance and stability in the core engine and channel protocols.

At Dell, Tripathy served as a Storage Development Senior Principal Engineer and Software Architect from 2010 to 2016. Tarun K made significant contributions to the creation of deduplication repository products, including DR4000, DR41000, and DR6000. Tarun K also introduced unique features such as Rapid NFS, enhancing the competitiveness of the DR series.

From 2016 to 2019, Tripathy worked at Quest Software as a Storage Development Senior Principal Engineer and Software Architect. Tarun K'sresponsibilities included architecting deduplication repository appliances and cloud archival solutions. Tarun K also contributed to the development of a software-defined storage (SDS) version of the physical DR series product, which was released as QoreStor.

Tripathy joined Western Digital in 2019 as a Senior Technologist, leading a team of talented technologists. Tarun K conceptualized and developed an NVMe oF stack for the All Flash Array product in the Data Center Systems BU.

Most recently, Tripathy has joined Index Engines as a Consulting Software Engineer in 2022.

Tarun K Tripathy attended the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Prior to that, they completed their Intermediate of Science (+2) at B.J.B. College, Bhubaneswar, with a focus on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Anthropology. Tarun K also attended D.M. School in Bhubaneswar, where they completed their Kindergarten to 10th-grade education. Additionally, Tarun K Tripathy obtained a Sangeet Visharad (Bachelor of Music degree) in Tabla, an Indian classical percussion instrument, from ABGMVM.
