Howard Hays

Howard Hays currently serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at the Indian Health Service (IHS), a position held since December 2020, focusing on enhancing healthcare delivery for American Indian and Alaska Native populations. Prior to this role, Howard founded Hays Health Informatics Consulting, LLC in November 2014, where efforts centered on improving health information technology adoption among providers. Howard's extensive experience at IHS also includes previous positions as Medical Informatics Consultant and Acting Director and Chief Information Officer, managing critical enterprise technology services. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from William Jewell College.
