Somnath Dutta is an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) since April 2016. Dutta has held various research positions, including Senior Postdoctoral Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan from October 2010, focusing on determining the 3D structure of small protein molecules using cryo-electron microscopy and single particle analysis. Prior experience includes a PhD at the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases from February 2006 to September 2010, where Dutta also investigated protein structures using cryo-electron microscopy. Earlier roles include Project Assistant at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology and Research Fellow at Bose Institute. Dutta's educational background includes a postdoctoral degree in Structural Biology from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Kalyani, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from The University of Burdwan.
