Gnanamoorthy R

Gnanamoorthy R serves as the Ace Micromatic Institute Chair Professor and Head of the Architected and Sustainable Materials Design Research Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, since 2013, and holds the position of Specially Appointed Professor at Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan, since January 2019. Prior to these roles, Gnanamoorthy R was the Founder Director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design & Manufacturing Kancheepuram from 2007 to 2017, where the focus was on establishing a green campus and promoting design-centric engineering education. Gnanamoorthy R's earlier experience includes serving as the Registrar and Deputy Director at the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, and working as a Research Scientist/Associate from 1994 to 1996. Educational qualifications include a Doctorate from Nagaoka University of Technology, a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Bachelor’s degree from Coimbatore Institute of Technology.
