Marla Jones is an experienced professional in museum management, historical preservation, and community development. Currently serving as Museum Collections Manager at the Lawrence County Museum of History and Lawrence County Historian at the Indiana Historical Society, Marla has also worked as an Event and Security Professional at CSC since December 2020. Previously, Marla held the position of Business and Community Development Director for the City of Bedford, where oversight of a $19.8 million investment in Downtown Bedford was a key responsibility. Other significant roles include Assistant Director at the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council and Executive Director at the Lawrence County Museum of History. Marla’s extensive background in media and design includes positions at the Times-Mail and University Publishing Company. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Organizational Business from Oakland City University and additional certifications in Web Design and Economic Development.

Indiana Historical Society
Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana’s Storyteller, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and sharing the state’s history. A private, nonprofit membership organization, IHS maintains the nation’s premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest and presents a unique set of visitor exhibitions called the Indiana Experience. IHS also provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups, publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; produces and hosts art exhibitions, museum theater and outside performance groups; and provides youth, adult and family programs. IHS is a Smithsonian Affiliate and a member of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience.
