Derrick W. McDowell is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as the Chairman and Commissioner of the Evansville Historic Preservation Commission since April 2023 and as a Managing Associate Attorney at Dentons Bingham Greenebaum since July 2021, focusing on energy law, carbon capture sequestration, and commercial litigation. McDowell holds positions as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the Indiana State Bar Association and President of the Legal Aid Society of Vanderburgh County. Previous experience includes law clerk work at Murphy & Murphy Trial Lawyers, legal research and writing as a Judicial Extern for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and various roles in legal education and publishing during studies at Southern Illinois University School of Law, where McDowell earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree. An alumnus of the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government, McDowell has demonstrated a commitment to pro bono work and legal advocacy throughout their career.
