Lacy M. Johnson

Lacy Johnson is a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP in Indianapolis. He is a partner in Taft's public affairs strategies group and partner-in-charge of the firm's Washington, D.C. office. His primary areas of practice focus on public affairs services and government relations.

Johnson served on the board of directors for the Indianapolis Airport Authority from 2000-2012 and was its president from 2000-2008. He is a member of the Indiana University Foundation, Eskenazi Health board, Congressional Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute, Skyline Club, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc., Oaks Academy, American Pianists Association, American Red Cross national diversity advisory council, the United States Democratic Black Caucus PAC board, Madam Walker Legacy Center, IndyGo board, chair of the Mays Council of Advisors, and Congressional Black Caucus Policy Institute. He is the Seventh District representative of the Indiana Democratic Party and a Democratic National Committee at-large member. Johnson is also a member of the Lawyers Council of the Indianapolis Civil Liberties Union, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Dean's Advisory Council of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. He is also a Grand Inspector General 33° of Constantine #25, Scottish Rite of PHA. Johnson is a Sagamore of the Wabash recipient, and he has been named in Who's Who in Black Indianapolis and Indiana Super Lawyers.

Before joining Taft in 2021, Mr. Johnson was a partner at Ice Miller LLP for more than 20 years, an attorney for the government relations services at Sagamore-Bainbridge, Inc., director of security for the Indiana State Lottery, liaison with the Indiana General Assembly, and lieutenant colonel and deputy superintendent for support services for the Indiana State Police. Johnson also served as lieutenant commander of the United States Naval Intelligence Reserves.

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Johnson received his B.A. from Purdue University. He holds a J.D. from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at IUPUI. He is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and before the federal courts in the Southern District of Indiana.
