Raj Acharya is a distinguished academic and leader in the fields of electrical and computer engineering, bioengineering, and AI innovation, currently serving as Program Director and James H. Rudy Professor at the National Science Foundation and Indiana University Bloomington since September 2022. Acharya holds an Adjunct Professorship in Medical and Molecular Genetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and has been actively contributing to VideoMining Corporation as a Strategic Advisor since 2013. Acharya's prior roles at Indiana University include Associate Vice President for Research for AI Innovation and Dean of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, overseeing nearly 200 faculty members and 5,000 students across its campuses. As a founding director of the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at The Penn State University, Acharya played a pivotal role in establishing the school. Acharya's academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering/Bioengineering from the University of Minnesota and a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Biocomputing from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.
