Christian Blauvelt is the Executive Managing Editor at IndieWire. Prior to their current position, they worked as an author for Hachette Book Group and as Deputy Culture Editor for BBC News.

Blauvelt is the author of two books of film history, in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies, called "Cinematic Cities: The Big Apple on the Big Screen" and "Hollywood Victory," a history of the American film industry during World War II. Christian has also won multiple awards for their work, including the 2017 Webby Award for Best Cultural Website and the 2018 Webby Award for Best Arts & Culture Social Media.

In their role as Executive Managing Editor at IndieWire, Blauvelt is responsible for coordinating day-to-day global coverage of newsworthy, shareable film, TV, music, and books stories. Christian also strategizes long-term editorial and business goals – including sponsored and/or branded bespoke content – in conjunction with New York and London-based editorial and sales teams.

Christian Blauvelt attended Northwestern University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a Radio/TV/Film Major. Christian also participated in a high school journalism program at The Poynter Institute for Media Studies. Prior to that, they attended Shorecrest Preparatory School.
