Kate Erbland

Executive Editor, Film at IndieWire

Kate Erbland is the current Executive Editor of Film at IndieWire. Kate has worked in the film industry for over 10 years in a variety of capacities. Erbland got their start as a managing editor and film critic for Gordon and the Whale from 2009 to 2011. Kate then became a critic and contributing writer for MSN Movies from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, they also took on the role of contributing writer for MSN's Page-Turner. From 2011 to 2012, Erbland was a film critic for Boxoffice Magazine. Her work has been featured on a variety of websites, including VanityFair.com, RollingStone.com, Cosmopolitan.com, Vulture, The Dissolve, ScreenCrush, Fandango, Mental Floss, New York Daily News, amNY, Film.com, Bustle, Geek Nation, Dame Magazine, Men’s Journal, and Movies.com. In July 2011, they joined Film School Rejects as an associate editor and was promoted to Executive Editor in 2015.

Kate Erbland received their Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature/Letters from Loyola Marymount University. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Justin-Siena High School.
