Mary Spitzer

Mary Spitzer, MPH, is an accomplished industrial hygienist currently employed at the Industrial Commission of Arizona, where responsibilities include investigating occupational safety complaints and collecting evidence of regulatory violations. Previously, Mary worked as an industrial hygiene technician and research assistant at the Environment, Exposure Science & Risk Assessment Center, focusing on cleaning interventions to prevent virus spread in the hospitality industry. Educational experience includes serving as a teaching assistant at the University of Arizona, conducting fit tests for N95 respirators, and creating safety manuals. Additional roles involve conducting research on occupational hazards for pregnant nurses, training in cancer prevention research methods, and developing educational materials on sustainability and environmental health for various audiences. Mary holds a Master of Public Health in Environmental Occupational Health and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Arizona.
