Martin Linder has extensive work experience in the field of industrial design. Martin began their career as a Principal at MSL Design in 1991, where they also worked as an Industrial and Software Application Designer. In 2001, they joined San Francisco State University as a Professor Emeritus. In 2020, they founded and became the President of the Board of Directors at Industrial Design Outreach.

Martin Linder attended Westfield High School, although no specific dates of attendance were provided. After completing high school, they went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Furniture Design from the Philadelphia College of Art from 1979 to 1981. Following this, Martin pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Industrial Design at the Cranbrook Academy of Art from 1981 to 1983.
