Emil Chang

Emil Chang is a seasoned professional in the fields of cinematography and virtual production, currently serving as the Senior Stagecraft Virtual Production Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic since February 2021. Experience includes technical direction on prominent series such as "The Mandalorian" and "Obi-Wan Kenobi," with responsibilities encompassing LED volume production and collaboration with key production crew members. Prior roles as a freelance cinematographer and various positions in virtual production and marketing demonstrate a diverse skill set in visual storytelling and technical operations. Chang holds an MFA in Cinematography from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree in History, Film and Television, and Earth and Environmental Science from UCLA. Notable past contributions include involvement with NASA’s DEVELOP program and leadership in advocacy for gender diverse communities.
