Josh Chappell

Josh Chappell is an accomplished Environment Artist currently working at Industrial Light & Magic since March 2021, previously serving as a Senior Layout Artist. Prior to this, Josh worked as a VFX VT Lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth and held roles at Outpost VFX as a CG Generalist and Matchmove & Layout Supervisor. Experience also includes a position as Lead Matchmove Technical Director at Framestore, contributing to notable projects such as "Thor: Ragnarok," "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," and "Beauty and the Beast." Early career roles include modeler and stereo photogrammetrist at Vertex Modelling, matchmove artist at DNEG, and freelance 2D animator for PruHealth. Josh's foundational experience in engineering was gained in the British Army, where responsibilities included working with heavy and light armor vehicles. Educational qualifications comprise a Bachelor of Science in CGI Modelling and Animation from Bournemouth University and various engineering certifications.
