Michael Marteeny has a diverse work experience. From 2017, they have been working as a Personnel Security Specialist/ Certified FSO at Industrial Security Integrators, LLC. Prior to this, from 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Support Assistant at Fairfax County Park Authority, where they trained new employees, coordinated maintenance staff activities, and managed cash transactions. In 2015, they had two teaching internships at Allegany County Public Schools. Michael taught 8th grade U.S. History/Social Science Research Methodology, focusing on analyzing historical events, and also taught 10th grade World History, incorporating critical thinking skills and utilizing social media to motivate students. Before these internships, they also worked as a Sales Associate at Ron Jon Surf Shop for a short period.

Michael Marteeny began their education in 2006 at Robinson Secondary, where they completed their secondary education but did not obtain a specific degree or field of study. In 2010, they enrolled at Frostburg State University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Social Sciences. In the same year, they obtained a Secondary Education Teaching Certification from the Maryland Department of Education. Following this, Michael Marteeny pursued further education at George Mason University - Schar School of Policy and Government. Michael completed their Master's degree in Public Policy in 2021. In 2017, they also obtained a certification as a Certified Facility Security Officer.
