Certified ISR Instructor at Infant Swimming Resource

Kira Cullen (Betea) has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Kira started their career as a Lecturer at Eastern Michigan University in 2000 and held the position until 2012. Following this role, they worked at the Ann Arbor YMCA as the Aquatic Lessons Coordinator from 2001 to 2012. In 2012, they became the Aquatics Director at the Greater Beverly YMCA and remained in that position until 2016. During this time, they also worked as a Coach at SwimMAC Carolina from 2016 to 2019. In 2016, they joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, initially as the Swim Lessons Coordinator and later as the Aquatics and Safety Director. Kira held these roles until 2020. In 2020, they joined Mecklenburg County as the Aquatics Supervisor and stayed until 2021. Following this, they served as the Head Swim Coach at Converse University from 2021 to 2022. Currently, they are an Emergency Medical Technician at Spartanburg EMS, starting in 2022. Additionally, they have been a Certified ISR Instructor at Infant Swimming Resource since 2014.

Kira Cullen (Betea) completed their education in a chronological order. From 2000 to 2005, they attended Eastern Michigan University and obtained a BA/BS degree in Mathematics and Music. Following this, they pursued further education at Eastern Michigan University from 2006 to 2008, earning an MA degree in Mathematics.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Kira Cullen (Betea) has obtained various certifications. These include YMCA Swim Lessons Faculty certification, achieved in June 2015 from the YMCA of the USA. Kira also holds certifications in Indoor Air Quality from the National Swimming Pool Foundation (obtained in November 2014), Certified ISR Instructor from Infant Swimming Resource (obtained in July 2014), and American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches Instructor (obtained in February 2014). Other certifications include Y-USA Trainer Skills Certification (obtained in February 2012), Level 5 Instructor Trainer from the Health & Safety Institute (HSI, obtained in September 2011), and YMCA Lifeguard Faculty (obtained in August 2011).

Furthermore, they hold certifications in Facilitation Skills from the YMCA (obtained in May 2011), PTO: Training Other I Trainer from the YMCA (obtained in April 2008), YMCA Lifeguard Trainer (obtained in April 2008), American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers Instructor (obtained in May 2007), American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (obtained in May 2007), and Fundamentals of Instructor Training from the American Red Cross (obtained in May 2007).

Lastly, they have achieved the certifications of YMCA Swim Lesson Trainer (obtained in June 2006), PTO: Training Others I from the YMCA (obtained in December 2004), Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving from the YMCA (obtained in June 2004), YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor (obtained in June 2006), YMCA Lifeguard (obtained in March 2016), and Basic First Aid from the Health & Safety Institute (HSI, obtained in February 2016).
