Michael Gibbons

Michael Gibbons has worked at various companies since 2012. In 2012, they served as a Research Intern at Stanford University (Rando Lab) where they were involved in the design, fabrication, and validation of bioreactor and muscle stem cell culture systems, as well as the fabrication of artificial muscle fibers using biomaterials in combination with muscle stem cells. In 2013, they joined UC San Diego as a PhD Candidate where they led a diverse team of orthopedic surgeons and basic scientists in projects to evaluate mechanical, cellular, and molecular drivers of degenerative muscle loss in chronic orthopedic disease. Michael then moved to Google in 2018 as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist. In 2020, they joined 10x Genomics as a Scientist. Currently, they are a Co-Founder at Infinimmune.

Michael Gibbons completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo between 2008 and 2013. In 2012 and 2013, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering with Specialization in Stem Cell Research from Cal Poly SLO and Stanford University. Finally, they received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioengineering from UC San Diego in 2018.
