Chinua Azubike

Chinua Azubike has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance and debt capital markets roles. Chinua began their career at Olaniwun Ajayi as an Associate in the Banking & Finance Practice. Chinua then worked at UBA Global Markets, where they served as an Associate in the Corporate Finance Advisory Group and Sales & Trading, focusing on legal and compliance. Chinua later joined Oceanic Capital as an Assistant Vice President, responsible for Legal & Compliance in Investment Banking & Asset Management. Chinua then moved to Dunn Loren Merrifield Group, where they held roles as Assistant Vice President, Vice President, and eventually became the Managing Director of DLM Advisory Partners. At DLM, they led the origination, structuring, and execution of capital market transactions and advised on the establishment of the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company. Chinua also played a key role in advising on the Tier 2 Capital Facility for NMRC and the issuance of the first 15-year mortgage-backed bond.

In 2016, Chinua joined the Nigeria Infrastructure Credit Enhancement Facility as the Project Lead, spearheading the establishment of an Infrastructure Credit Enhancement Facility to provide guarantees for local currency debt instruments used to finance infrastructure projects in Nigeria. Chinua was then appointed as the Interim CEO of InfraCredit before assuming their current role as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer.

Chinua is also actively involved in the development of the Nigerian Debt Capital Market. Chinua served as the Chairperson of the Regulation Consolidation Sub-Committee of the Nigeria Debt Capital Market Development Project, tasked with evaluating the existing regulatory framework and harmonizing policies for the growth and development of the DCM.

Additionally, Chinua has been recognized as a Case Study Protagonist by Harvard Business School for their work in infrastructure development in Nigeria. The case study explores the potential of Nigerian pension funds as alternative sources of financing for infrastructure through investments in infrastructure debt securities.

Chinua Azubike holds a Master's Degree in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London. From 1996 to 2002, they pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Lagos, earning a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) degree. Chinua also obtained an Associate's Degree from The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland. In terms of additional certifications, they completed a course titled "Disruptive Innovation: From Theory to Practice" at the Clayton Christensen Institute in August 2021. Furthermore, they completed a course on "Disruptive Strategy," although the details regarding the institution and completion date are not provided.
