Tom Breunig has a diverse range of work experience in the technology and clean energy sectors. Tom started their career in 1989 as an Account Manager at Miller Communications/Weber Shandwick, where they managed public relations accounts in the semiconductor and telecommunications sectors. Tom then joined KVO Public Relations as a Senior Account Supervisor, where they managed multiple accounts in the "Silicon Systems" practice group.

In 2000, Breunig became the Vice President of Corporate Communications at MEMSCAP, S.A., a French-owned semiconductor company. Tom managed worldwide corporate communications functions and rebranded the company prior to its IPO. After leaving MEMSCAP in 2002, they joined The Kinetic Group as the Vice President of Marketing, overseeing business development and marketing activities.

Tom then joined Injectsense Inc. as the Director of Corporate Communications before moving on to Cleantech Concepts in 2015, where they became a Principal. Cleantech Concepts monitors and analyzes developments in cleantech R&D and facilitates investments in cleantech start-ups.

Most recently, Breunig joined Blue Practice in 2019 as a Senior Advisor. Blue Practice is a public relations agency that focuses on clean technology, renewable energy, and various other sectors related to sustainability.

Throughout their career, Breunig has demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, branding, and business development in the technology and clean energy sectors.

Tom Breunig has a Master of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University. Tom also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College, where they studied French and Mandarin. Additionally, Tom completed a postgraduate program at Fulbright France, specializing in Secondary Education and Teaching. Tom participated in the Inter University Program (IUP) in Taipei, Taiwan for intensive Chinese language study.
