Javier Hernandez is a seasoned teaching artist and cartoonist with extensive experience in arts education and the comic book industry. Currently serving as a teaching artist at artworxLA and a substitute teacher at Inner-City Arts, Javier conducts workshops and lessons that integrate storytelling with various artistic mediums. As a co-founder and creative director of the Latino Comics Expo, Javier promotes Latino creators and highlights cultural narratives in comics and animation. With a prolific career as a cartoonist and publisher, Javier has produced numerous works since the launch of EL MUERTO in 1998 and has contributed to arts education through various organizations, including A Place Called Home and the Children Youth and Family Collaborative. Javier also has experience in leadership as a member of the board of directors for the Nuvein Foundation for Literature and the Arts.
