Cynthia Hougum

Cynthia Hougum, PhD, currently serves as Senior Vice President of Cardiovascular Surgery at Getinge, leading a growing team focused on innovative coronary products. In addition, Cynthia acts as Client Director for Innosphere Ventures, coaching start-ups in the life sciences sector. Cynthia has been involved with Duke University as a Director on the Alumni Association and Graduate School Advisory Boards, promoting STEM access for underrepresented groups. As a member of the Viterbo University Board of Trustees, Cynthia chairs the Strategic/Finance Committee. Previous roles include Senior Vice President and General Manager at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, where Cynthia advanced plasma innovation, and extensive leadership positions at GE HealthCare, contributing to substantial growth and integration efforts. Cynthia holds a PhD in Physical-Organic Chemistry from Duke University and a BS in Chemistry from Viterbo University.
