Alex Ehrenberg

Alex Ehrenberg holds a B.A. in Integrative Biology and Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and is completing his Ph.D., also from the University of California, Berkeley. His research background is in neuropathology, comparative neurology, and molecular neuroscience, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases. Prior to joining IGI, Alex held dual research roles at UC Berkeley working with Daniela Kaufer, and at UCSF’s Memory and Aging Center working with Lea Grinberg. Alex initially joined IGI in 2020 to help with the compliance and clinical research needs for the institute’s COVID-19 work, including establishing the IGI Clinical Lab, now the Interventional Genomics Unit (IGU). Alex works with Petros Giannikopoulos at the IGU to lead the INGENUITI program. In this role, he is focused on improving clinical workup for patients with rare or heterogeneous diseases and building precision medicine frameworks for genomic therapies.
