Ruben Walston has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Ruben most recently worked as a Senior CyberSecurity Analyst at Innovative Management Concepts, Inc. starting in 2023. Prior to that, Walston held the position of Information Systems Security Officer at BlackHorse Solutions from 2020 to 2023. Here, they were responsible for formulating customer requirements into actionable items and managing the documentation of system development.

From 2015 to 2020, Walston served as the Pacific Region Compliance Manager at the United States Department of Defense. In this role, they acted as a subject matter expert overseeing security products, processes, and methodologies. Ruben also managed the integration of a large network and instituted a command security review program.

Walston's experience also includes working as an IT Specialist Security at the United States Department of Defense from 2010 to 2011. Here, they updated and modified the command's security program and conducted a full network review.

Earlier in their career, Walston worked as a Cyber Security Engineer and Network Engineer at SRA, a CSRA company, and as an Information Systems Specialist at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Ruben also served as an Instructor at Hawaii Technology Institute and as a Senior Computer Trainer at Computer Training Academy.

Throughout their career, Walston has demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, project management, policy development, network administration, and systems engineering.

Ruben Walston has a diverse education history. Ruben obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science and Management from Hawaii Pacific University between 1996 and 2001. Following this, Ruben pursued a Master's degree in Information Security from the same university from 2005 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Ruben also obtained several certifications. Ruben became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for Windows Server 2003 in August 2005, and in December 2008, they became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through (ISC)². Ruben further enhanced their skills by obtaining a certification in Governance, Risk & Compliance from (ISC)² in April 2014. In December 2014, Ruben completed another certification in Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 from Microsoft.
