Pieter Smeets

Pieter Smeets is an accomplished professional in sustainability and industrial management, currently serving as the Sustainability Manager at INEOS Inovyn since October 2023 and as an Advisory Board Member at Earth Academy since February 2021. Previously, Pieter held the role of Director of Sustainability Strategy Consulting at Monitor Deloitte from July 2022 to October 2023, focusing on sustainability and ESG strategies for organizations. A significant tenure at SABIC spanned from June 2010 to September 2022, where Pieter progressed from Sr. Sustainability Engineer to Sr. Manager Industrial Sustainability, leading teams and managing sustainability initiatives. Earlier experience includes project and research management roles at Stanford University as a post-doctoral research fellow and as a PhD candidate at KU Leuven, where research included catalyst development for environmental applications. Pieter's academic background includes a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University and a PhD from KU Leuven.
