Gerard Moroney has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Gerard currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Input Output (IOHK), a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Director of Operations at IOHK from December 2018 to March 2022. Gerard also worked as a Program Manager and Project Manager at IOHK from September 2018 to November 2018 and from December 2017 to August 2018, respectively.

Earlier in their career, Gerard worked at Neural Technologies as a Software Development Manager from January 2004 to March 2010, managing product deployment, infrastructure testing, and software delivery. Gerard also worked at Tessella as a Computer Consultant from December 1999 to November 2003, contributing to project implementation for both private and public sector organizations.
Gerard's work experience extends to their early career, where they completed an engineering internship at Allergan from April 1993 to December 1993, assisting with process engineering and administrative tasks.
Gerard Moroney earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick in 1995. Gerard then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Liverpool from 1995 to 1999. In 2013, Gerard completed Computer Based Training (CBT) Courses in Management & Technology from Coursera.org, focusing on Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management. Gerard has also obtained various certifications in digital product management, decentralized finance, blockchain, and cryptocurrency from Coursera and The Linux Foundation. In 2023, Gerard is planning to attend the Cambridge Judge Business School for programs related to Business Administration and Management, as well as Senior Manager and Senior Management Programs in Organizational Leadership.
