Xin (Alex) Song is a Machine Learning Researcher at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. since March 2022. With a strong presence in competitive data science, Xin (Alex) ranks in the top 0.1% globally on Kaggle, achieving impressive placements in competitions such as BirdCLEF2021 and SIIM-FISABIO-RSNA COVID-19 Detection. As an Insight Data Science Fellow, significant contributions include developing an end-to-end deep learning model for detecting fabric defects using advanced techniques to address imbalanced datasets. Previously, Xin (Alex) served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, enhancing seismic event identification with high accuracy and refining tomographic techniques for lithospheric studies. Xin (Alex) has also held teaching assistant roles for specialized geophysical courses at the University of Toronto and conducted undergraduate research at the University of Science and Technology of China. Xin (Alex) earned a PhD and an MS in Physics from the University of Toronto and a BS in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China.
