Celia Schiffman

Celia Schiffman is a Project Manager at Insight Designs Web Solutions. Celia has also worked as an Education and Outreach Specialist at UNAVCO and as a Graduate Student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they completed coursework towards a degree in Geophysics.

Celia has conducted fieldwork in Haiti and Canyonlands in Utah to document active tectonics, and has analyzed GPS data in the western Himalaya to determine strain accumulation and earthquake hazard. Celia has presented their work at professional conferences and published results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

At the University of Colorado, Celia was a Teaching Assistant for a Scientific Writing course, where they helped grade and provide feedback on student essays about various geologic topics. Celia also led students in group critiques of each other’s papers. Additionally, they were a Teaching Assistant for Intro to Geology Lab, where they independently taught undergraduate introductory lab sections. Celia designed labs and field trips, created grading scheme, and wrote midterm and final exam.

Celia Schiffman has a PhD in geology from the University of Colorado Boulder, a geology degree from Caltech, and an MS in geology from Oregon State University. Celia also has a BS in Geology and English from Union College. Celia has a certification from Coursera in Server-side Development with NodeJS.
