Marlon Young

Director at Insigneo Financial Group

For more than 35 years, Mr. Young held senior executive positions at two of the world’s largest banks, directing and growing multiple areas of these financial institutions. In his leadership roles, he transformed several significant businesses, directed global teams and developed innovative initiatives to better serve clients. He has extensive expertise serving on both private and public boards and is currently an Independent Director for Insigneo Financial Group in Miami. Until 2017, he served as the Executive Director of HSBC Global Asset Management, a subsidiary of HSBC Bank, USA, and as Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of HSBC Private Bank International, Miami.

His not-for-profit board experience extends to the US Asia Institute in Washington D.C., where he served as Chairman and Trustee for ten years before assuming his current position as Chairman Emeritus and Trustee. He is also a Foundation Member and Finance Committee Member for the University of South Dakota Foundation. Previously, he served on the Philadelphia Orchestra Advisory Board. A recipient of President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2011, Marlon continues to actively participate in advocacy and volunteer work, particularly in Junior Achievement, the Doe Fund, Out on the Street, Green Chimneys and Ascend.

Today, Marlon is a Senior Advisor and Associate Partner with Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise, a specialized international organization focused on helping families achieve multigenerational success and financial wealth. In this capacity, Marlon, who is based in New York, advises multigenerational family enterprises of diverse sizes and industries throughout North America, South America and Asia on family system issues. This includes advising on wealth and portfolio diversification strategies; how families select financial service providers; effective governance throughout the family enterprise, and succession planning.

Previously, Marlon was CEO and Regional Head of HSBC Global Private Bank–Americas, a position he held for more than a decade. Prior to his tenure at HSBC, he held key executive positions within Citigroup for 25 years. He served as Managing Director and Head of Private Client Lending for Citigroup’s Smith Barney division and served in various leadership roles at Citigroup Private Bank, Citicorp Real Estate Group, and Citibank Corporate Bank. His international banking experience involved assignments in Thailand Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

He earned his MBA from the Asian Institute of Management in The Philippines and his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of South Dakota. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD); holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 66 licenses and holds an IMCA (Investment Management Consultants Association) certification.
