Jan Lichtenberg has extensive work experience in various positions and industries. Jan was the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of InSphero AG, a company that specializes in producing organotypic, scaffold-free, three-dimensional microtissues for drug development and screening. Jan also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Syndya Therapeutics and the Member of the Board of Directors of Scailyte.
Prior to these roles, Jan worked as the Head of R&D and Product Management at Hocoma AG, where they focused on advanced functional rehabilitation technology for patients with neurological disorders. Jan also served as the Head of Research and Development at Johnson Outdoors, managing a team that developed electronic underwater instruments for divers.
Jan's work experience also includes being the CEO and founder of Advanced Micromachining Tools AMMT GmbH, a world market leader in specialty wet etching equipment. Jan has also worked as a Microfluidics team leader at ETH Zurich and a Research Assistant at IMT Neuchatel and IMSAS (University of Bremen).
Throughout their career, Jan has gained expertise in various areas, including product development, research and development management, project management, and microfluidics.
Jan Lichtenberg began their education journey by earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Microtechnology from the University of Bremen from 1993 to 1998. Jan then pursued further studies at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 1995 and 1996, focusing on Microtechnology/Microelectronics. Next, Lichtenberg completed their Ph.D. in Microtechnology and Microfluidics at the Université de Neuchâtel from 1999 to 2002. Finally, they joined ETH Zürich from 2002 to 2004 as a Research Team Leader, specializing in Protein Microsensors.
