Job Overview:

The Clinical Manager/OR Manager will work closely with the Physicians and Practice Administration in the performance and delegation of nursing duties to provide the best patient care possible to the surgical patients. In addition to assisting with the care of surgical patients, the Clinical Manager will be responsible for supervising the provision of quality nursing care provided at Inspire Aesthetics. He/she will be responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice, coordinating nursing and training programs, and recognizing and assisting in solving problems within established policies and practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the clinical, risk management, quality of care, and patient aspects of the practice with the Administrator and governing body.
  • Monitors the credentialing process for health care practitioners.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical staffing levels.
  • All clinical staff report to the Nurse Manager, which includes:
    • Nurses, Surgical Technicians, Medical Assistants, Skin Care Clinicians, and Medical Photographers.
  • Coordinates surgical and anesthesia services.
  • Oversees compliance of clinical accreditation standards.
  • Develop and coordinate training of new employees and continuing education for the medical staff.
  • Monitors performance of clinical staff.
  • Maintains OSHA and federal and state standards for the organization.
  • Monitors all clinical studies conducted within the operation of the practice.
  • Monitors the purchase and maintenance of all durable and disposable medical equipment.
  • Monitors all check lists for completion.
  • Monitors employee health program including PPD and flu vaccine.

Exam Room Patient Care:

  • Supervise direct patient care and advise staff accordingly.
  • Assist with nurse call messages and outcomes
  • Utilize staff members assigned to the exam room area who have periods of decreased patient activity to accomplish tasks which facilitate the overall delivery of patient care throughout the surgery center.

Operating Room:

  • Supervise all aspects of care given in the perioperative setting according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Monitor sterilization procedures of all equipment and supplies.
  • Order all anesthesia drugs
  • Assist anesthesiologist in the maintenance of the anesthesia cart
  • Conduct quarterly nursing audits of the OR
  • Conduct quarterly emergency drills, MH drill annually.

Recovery Room:

  • Supervise all aspects of delivery of care to patients in recovery room preoperatively and postoperatively.
  • Maintain continuity of policies and procedures of patient care by all RN’s providing care in the RR.
  • Maintain readiness at all times of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Order all recovery room drugs, office medications, and emergency drugs; check weekly. Supervise inventory, restock, and check crash cart at the end of each use.
  • Maintain DEA forms and records.
  • Participate in Operating Room/Staff Development In-service Programs/ Analyze problems to determine personnel learning needs (assist with policies and procedures; maintain MSDS book).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree or equivalent experience and current state RN licensure.
  • Must have and maintain at all times a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).
  • Circulating Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience required.
  • Supervisory experience in a team leader role.
  • Familiar with all of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all members of staff both verbal and written.
  • Good judgment, supervision, listening, creativity, conflict resolution and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to take initiative and provide critical thinking skills to address clinical issues.
  • Ability to promote good public relations with patient, family members and caregivers.
