Lachlan Plant

Lachlan Plant is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in backend development and system architecture. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer II at Instacart since July 2025, Lachlan previously held the position of Staff Software Engineer at Powered by People from 2023 to 2025, where as the primary architect, played a crucial role in redesigning the backend for the company’s transition to a multi-channel wholesale and dropship platform. Prior to that, Lachlan was a Senior Software Engineer at Ritual.co from 2018 to 2023, leading multiple consumer backend teams and developing key components for the consumer application. Earlier experience includes a Senior Software Engineer role at Wind River from 2016 to 2018, and a research position at nModal Solutions Inc. from 2014 to 2016, focusing on the feasibility of new systems and predictive analytics for software solutions. Lachlan holds a Master of Computer Science from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Brock University.
