Jakub Kmec

Research Engineer at InstaDeep

Jakub Kmec has worked as a Research Engineer at InstaDeep Ltd since June 2020. Prior to that, they were a Machine Learning Engineer at Exponea from June 2018 to September 2019, where they designed architecture for deploying online contextual bandit models and worked on a recommendations engine. Jakub also worked as a Data Science Intern at Exponea from June 2017 to August 2017, where they developed a pipeline to automate marketing campaigns using recommendation engines and predictive ensemble models. Jakub was a Shell Eco Marathon Intern at The University of Manchester from July 2016 to September 2016, where they co-founded a team that aimed to build the most fuel-efficient vehicle. Jakub also worked as a Design Engineering Intern at Survitec Group Ltd. from June 2016 to August 2016, where they conducted analysis and optimization of an emergency escape suit using 3D scanning and simulation. Additionally, Jakub has experience as a Skiing and Snowboarding Instructor at FATRA SKI s.r.o. from December 2013 to March 2015, teaching private lessons and organizing ski camps.

Jakub Kmec began their education at BGMH Sučany High School in 2000, where they studied Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry until 2015. During this time, they also attended International Baccalaureate - Åva Gymnasium Sweden in 2012 and 2013, focusing on HL Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

After completing high school, Jakub went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Manchester from 2015 to 2018. Following that, they attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2017 to 2018, where they earned another Bachelor's degree, this time in Engineering.

In 2016, Jakub obtained a CPD certification in Smart Cities and Communities Reshaping the Future from Open Forum Events. Additionally, in 2015, they received a Cambridge certificate in advanced English (CAE) from Cambridge English Language Assessment.

Most recently, in 2019 and 2020, Jakub attended UCL, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Machine Learning.
