Steve Van Bruwaene

Steve Van Bruwaene is a developer at Instant Financial. Steve previously worked as Lead Developer / System Architect at VISR from February 2014 to November 2016.

At VISR, Steve took the company from an original concept to a complete cloud-based analytics service with over 24,000 users. Steve built the original front-end and back end systems based on PHP and the Yii (MVC, Object Oriented) Framework, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript. Steve also built integrations with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Youtube, Gmail, and Pinterest.

Working with the Lead Data Scientist, Steve built the first and second-generation AI systems from the ground up. As the team grew, they worked with front-end developers to provide direction and API endpoints. Steve also worked with the growing data science team to incorporate better text analysis into our results.

Steve took advantage of various AWS services to create a highly available and scalable system (EC2, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, etc.). After leaving VISR, they continued to consult on various projects from time to time. When VISR was purchased by SafeToNet, they continued to advise on projects occasionally.

Steve Van Bruwaene completed a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo.

Steve Van Bruwaene reports to Erik Levinson, VP Engineering. They work with Rob Secord - Developer, Wensheng Zhang - Developer, and Michael St George - Senior Developer, Team Lead.
